Bridging the Gap: Improving PrEP Access for Migrant communities in Europe

Overview

The opening session set the foundation for the Mi Care Training Series. Led by Stephanie Katiyar, a pharmacist with nearly a decade of experience in HIV PrEP and sexual health, the workshop introduced participants to PrEP guidelines and patient care. Stephanie began by situating PrEP within the broader HIV prevention landscape, then guided the group through clinical protocols, eligibility criteria, dosage, and side‑effect management.

To keep the session interactive, she used Mentimeter questions and real‑world scenarios, encouraging participants to share perspectives and reflect on patient experiences. After a short networking break, the group reconvened to explore the patient journey in detail – from initial assessment to ongoing monitoring and follow‑up care.

The session concluded with key take‑home messages: the importance of clear communication with patients, sensitivity to migrant experiences, and adherence to both national and international guidelines. Stephanie’s expertise and leadership in HIV pharmacy associations added depth and credibility, inspiring participants to integrate these practices into their own work.
