Healthcare rights of migrants

Requerentes de asilo Have full access to the public health care system. They are entitled to the same level of health care as nationals, including access to specialised treatment for persons who have suffered torture, severe physical or psychological abuses or traumatising circumstances.

Refugiados Are entitled to the same health care rights as nationals.

Migrantes indocumentados Are covered by the national health service if they are registered as residents of the municipality. However, they can only access emergency, maternity and pediatric care, although many Spanish doctors and nurses continue to treat them. Undocumented migrants are required to reimburse 40% of the cost of medicines prescribed to them.
